The incident took place in Riverhead around 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 10.
The attack was discovered when officers responded to a report of an assault with a knife at the Timothy Hill Ladybug House, Sound Avenue, said the Riverhead Police.
It was reported that two residents were in a physical altercation resulting in a 17-year-old male stabbing an 18-year-old male in the face with a butter knife causing an injury, police said.
Initially, the victim was uncooperative with responding detectives. A further investigation by the Riverhead Town Detective Squad resulted in the arrest of the 17-year-old for assault on Thursday, July 21, police said.
